History

Founded in Milan in 1978 by Massimiliano Antonini, Mates was among the first companies in Italy to develop and market products for the production of composite components. From its inception, the company embraced the vision of a future in which composites would revolutionise several industries.
In the 1970s, the world of composites was still in its infancy, and the owner seized the opportunity to be one of the first to explore and exploit the revolutionary potential of these materials. With a vision for the future and a firm determination, he began experimenting and working with various types of materials, trying to fully understand their characteristics and potential. Driven by the founder’s passion for innovation, the company has continued to invest in research and development by collaborating with industry experts and using state-of-the-art technology. In this way, Mates can ensure that the products it brings to market are always up to the most demanding technical challenges.

Over the years, the market has rewarded the company’s activities, allowing it to grow steadily. On the occasion of its thirtieth year of activity, the new Segrate premises were inaugurated, which led to an important expansion of the equipment and facilities for the service offered to customers and collaborators. A usable covered surface area of more than 4000 square metres has made it possible to install three new industrial machines specifically for cutting to size and packaging films and reinforcements, two automatic machines for cutting structural cores into panels, a negative temperature cold room and two positive temperature cold rooms with a total refrigerated surface area of approximately 230 square metres. The three goods storage warehouses are kept at a controlled temperature to minimise the risk of deterioration of the contained products. The office building has been completely renovated with the intention of minimising environmental impact and has been equipped with an internal bar/recreation room. The new building also houses a laboratory equipped with the latest testing machinery and an entire room used exclusively for workshops and technical/practical product lessons, capable of accommodating up to 40 people.
