Aluminium
Aluminium honeycomb is a very light product that is resistant to compression, shear, fire and corrosion. It consists of aluminium sheets glued in layers that expand to form a hexagonal structure. Sometimes it can be micro-perforated to connect all the cells to each other. This type of honeycomb is used as a core in many sectors and employed for all products that need to achieve an optimum stiffness-to-weight ratio. In the automotive sector, it is used as a buffer, in compression, as it is capable of absorbing most of the kinetic energy. The structural rigidity and lightness of aluminium are therefore able to guarantee products with excellent chemical-physical properties.
