Balsa
Balsa is a core material of natural origin whose wood is obtained by cutting the trunk perpendicular to the direction of the fibres in order to obtain the maximum available structure. It is characterised by excellent chemical resistance and neutral behaviour in terms of temperature variations. Balsa wood can be processed with all major resin systems and implemented in most manufacturing processes, as well as having excellent laminate adhesion properties. It is defined as the ideal eco-sustainable structural core for the production of renewable components, with a very wide range of application techniques. It is mainly used for boat building, for rail and road vehicle structures, as a core in industrial components and even in the aerospace industry.
