Prepregs
Glass prepregs are reinforcement fabrics or machine-impregnated fibres with a pre-catalysed resin system. The reinforcement is ready for deposition in a mould without the addition of resin by means of classic production processes (manual lamination, infusion, injection). Once the prepreg has been placed in the mould, the resin contained only cross-links completely by heating it to the prescribed temperature, thus following the cure cycle indicated in the data sheet. The amount of resin in the fibres is declared directly by the manufacturer, as are the final characteristics of the composite laminate. The use of prepregs drastically reduces processing time and costs for the production of high-performance composite products.
