Fasteners
The traditional systems used to assemble components, such as rivets, screws and staples, are often incompatible with composite materials or require too many compromises to work with fatigue, causing a weakening of the finished part or an increase in its thickness and thus its final weight. Drilling into a carbon-reinforced panel causes damage to the fibres intended to provide the reinforcement and structural integrity, resulting in panel failure. Bonding a fastener directly onto the surface, using the correct adhesive, or by integrating it into the laminate, a secure fixation can be achieved without drilling or damaging the composite panel.
Innovation and technological progress have led to the creation of fasteners specifically for the fibre-reinforced composite market. Thanks to their great design flexibility and fatigue safety, they have become established items over the years and are applied in a wide range of sectors. The quality of BigHead ® solutions has been thoroughly tested by world-leading companies in the automotive, shipbuilding, construction, energy and general manufacturing industries.
