Polyester
The polyester gelcoat is characterized by a high elongation at break, which allows it to be used even on pieces subjected to strong stresses and by a hardness which protects it from scratches and abrasions. Its application thickness is between 0.4 and 0.8 mm, a lower thickness can lead to aggression by the resin, with the formation of wrinkles while a higher one can lead to excessive fragility. It guarantees excellent resistance to UV, osmosis and hydrolysis and excellent chemical resistance. The gelcoat can also be produced with paraffin for complete insulation from humidity, and used mainly in the nautical sector as a finishing layer, or for the construction of molds in polyester resin reinforced with glass fibers.
